Introduction
Inside Out Group (IOG) successfully tendered for this project which involved the new build of a two-storey 6th Form modular build block to include six classrooms, transgender toilets on each floor, conference rooms, offices, kitchenette, lift, plant and data rooms and external fire escape.
Project details
The project included:

Traditional foundations, steel frame structure with brick work and curtain walling with aluminium panels to the external envelope.
Hollow core plank system on both floors with a pre-formed concrete staircase.
Insulated composite roof with protruding roof light and internal HVAC system.
Electrical
Power, lighting including (emergency and external), fire and intruder detection & alarm systems, data and telecoms, class change bell system, soundfield system, disabled call system, CCTV, passenger lift, lightning protection, earthing protective & bonding conductors.
Mechanical
LST radiators, hot & cold water supplies, sanitary ware, toilets, vanity units, kitchen, condensing boiler, hot water heaters, pressurisation unit, radiator manifolds, circulation pumps, primary gas meter, BMS system, water descaling unit, waste pipes, soil stacks, drainage systems, HVAC system, TMV valves.
Points of note
The school remained open for the duration of the build and so it was critical that the work area was securely segregated from all non-authorised personnel. The site was secured with 230 Lm of solid hoarding with posts set 600mm deep and filled with RC40 concrete. Site access was via the school’s main entrance and so all deliveries to site were restricted to outside of school hours to minimise disruption to the running of the school.
